Kia J2 engine

This is the Kia J2 2.7 liter diesel engine, currently its a 2700cc SOHC, and is euro-2 compliant

the advantages and specs of the J2 is it produces 57 kW and 172 Nm of torque, sufficient for a top speed of 120 km/h and the ability to dispatch the dash to 80 km/h in 23.7 seconds. But what really counts is that torque.

the J2 powers the latest Kia K2700 line of vehicles which is getting more and more popular since its introduction in 2008,

the J2's fuel system is the popular and time tested VE type distributor pump system and indirect injection type, it uses pintle type nozzles and non-turbo, although its a non turbo model, its torque rating is high due to its enhanced swirl chamber design, when it comes to maintenance, the J2 is easy to maintain, and is also very capable of dirty grade fuels, parts are similar to the Mazda R2 and all component are almost the same.

The j2 started Life as the S2, which is installed on the Kia Ceres series of vehicles, the J2 inherited some traits on the Mazda R2 series of diesel engines.

The SOHC head design and the Top cylinder and cylinder head cover design of the J2 is exactly the same as that of the R2 so is the injection pump's position, with regards to engine displacement, the j2 is larger by 500cc  than the R2, the J2 is also installed on the following vehicles:

Early Models of Kia Pregio

Although the Latest model of the Kia J2 is more modernized and equipped for euro-2 compliance it is still the same J2 engine design as being used by models earlier than the K2700 as listed above.
